What is Operation Backpack4Kids?
BP4K is a 501.3.c non-profit organization run by a volunteer team composed mostly of Airline pilots. BP4K provides aid to children and their families around the world affected by wars, natural disasters, or other crises.
Who is behind BP4K?
William “Bill” Vaughan founded Backpack4kids in Cologne Germany after witnessing wave after wave of Ukrainian refugees entering the city. Bill recruited some of his friends and colleagues to start providing backpacks of necessity items to the children arriving from Ukraine. Soon, more colleagues joined to help and eventually form the Board of Trustees and necessary operations managers. BP4K continues to grow and expand.
Where does BP4K operate?
BP4K is legally based in Louisville, Kentucky. We also have our main US warehouse in Louisville. However, the scope of BP4K is to help and provide aid to children and families of children who have been affected by disasters, wars/conflicts, and humanitarian crisis’ anywhere on the globe.
How many backpacks has BP4K handed out?
As of February 2023, BP4K has handed out over 4,000 backpack and provided various other forms of aid focused on children who have been affected by the Ukrainian refugee crisis and Turkish Earthquakes.
When did BP4K originate?
During the Spring of 2022 in support of the Ukraine child refugee crisis.
