I responded to a fire earlier this week and learned that two boys, ages six and seven, had been affected. I stopped by the DAT Cave to pick up backpacks for them on my way. When we arrived, the boys were sitting on the front porch with their mother. They couldn’t go inside because of the heavy soot and smoke. Their pets had already been taken to the vet, and the boys were understandably shaken and had little to occupy them. Since I had already told their mother I would bring the backpacks, we handed them over right away. The boys immediately sat on the sidewalk and began exploring everything inside. They stayed busy the entire time we were assisting their mother. I explained your program to her and asked if I could take a photo to share with you. Bob West, DAT Team Leader
